About

About Print My Lesson.

Print My Lesson makes complete lessons for UK secondary Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology teachers. Here is who is behind it.

What it does

Lessons first, and the resources around them.

Name a topic, choose your course, tier and year group, and Print My Lesson writes the lesson for that class in about two minutes.

Who's behind this

Built by a practising teacher. Used in his own classroom.

Alex teaches secondary Physics and Maths in Kent — AQA GCSE and A-Level, Edexcel iGCSE. Print My Lesson started as a way to stop losing Sunday evenings to slide decks and question sets, and it's still built topic by topic, term by term, for the classes he teaches.

It is built to be checked, not trusted blind: each new lesson opens in a preparation view, so you can read it through before it goes on the board.

How a lesson is made

Matched to the spec, then checked.

  1. You set the class

Subject, course and exam board, Separate or Combined for the sciences, tier or class level, year group and lesson length.

  2. The spec and the lesson bank ground it

Search a topic and the lesson bank suggests the matching lesson for your course, or you pick one yourself. The course's current specification record goes to the generator with that lesson's objectives, spec reference and key vocabulary. A weak match is left unused rather than forced, and if you use your own topic instead, the lesson is written from that topic alone.

  3. You read it first

Every lesson opens in a preparation view with teacher notes, so you read it through before it goes on the board. An automated review of the slides also runs, but it can miss mistakes, so your read still matters.

Checks that run on the way

  • An automated review of each lesson's slides runs after it is made, and any problems it finds are listed with the lesson
  • Missing worksheet questions, and gaps in a revision-game board, are spotted and written again
  • Practice questions are ordered from the fewest marks to the most
  • Required-practical lessons put safety before method, and need their apparatus diagram
  • In the game, answers the system can work out, such as percentages, are recalculated, and you are warned if one does not match
