Question 1

Two parallel metal plates 15 mm apart in a vacuum have a potential difference of 240 V between them. Calculate the acceleration of an electron between the plates. Use e = 1.60×10−191.60 \times 10^{-19} C and the electron mass m = 9.11×10−319.11 \times 10^{-31} kg. Give your answer to 3 significant figures.

m s⁻²
